Hey {{first name | there}}! 👋

Welcome back to AI Made Simple!

This week the AI world moved fast. Governments got involved, revenue records were broken, and a surprising stat revealed just how early we still are in this AI journey.

Also - this week's tool is something completely different. It is free, it is quirky, it is beloved by millions of people - and almost nobody talks about it. I think you are going to love it. Let us get into it! 🚀

🔥 AI News of the Week

1. The White House wants to vet AI models like the FDA vets drugs

The US National Economic Council confirmed this week that the White House is drafting an executive order to screen powerful new AI models before they are released to the public. The idea is similar to how the FDA reviews new medicines - AI models would go through a government safety check before reaching users. This follows the emergence of Anthropic's restricted "Mythos" model, which was kept from public release due to its ability to autonomously find security vulnerabilities in software systems. In plain English - governments are starting to treat AI like a serious piece of infrastructure that needs oversight, not just another app.

2. Anthropic just overtook OpenAI in revenue - for the first time ever

In a historic shift, Anthropic - the company behind Claude - has surpassed OpenAI in annualised recurring revenue for the first time. Anthropic reached a $30 billion annualised run rate while OpenAI trailed at $24 billion. Just two years ago this would have seemed impossible - OpenAI was the clear market leader. The shift signals that the AI race is genuinely competitive and that the winner is far from decided.

3. Only 17.8% of the world's working-age population uses AI right now

Microsoft published its Global AI Diffusion Report this week with a fascinating finding - despite all the hype, only 17.8% of working-age people worldwide currently use generative AI tools. The UAE leads globally at 70.1%, while the United States sits at 21st place with a 31.3% usage rate. In plain English - AI still has enormous room to grow, and most people in the world have not yet tried a single AI tool. The opportunity ahead is massive - for tools, for creators, and for newsletters like this one.

🛠️ Tool of the Week: Goblin Tools 🧙

This week is something a little different. No big tech company. No flashy launch video. No billion-dollar marketing budget.

Just a small, free, quietly brilliant collection of AI tools built by one person - for people who find everyday tasks overwhelming. And it turns out that is pretty much all of us.

Goblin Tools is a completely free, ad-free suite of AI mini-tools designed to break down the cognitive load of daily life. It was originally built with neurodivergent users in mind - people with ADHD, autism, or anxiety - but its fans range from students and professionals to anyone who has ever stared at a long to-do list and felt frozen.

The creator built it because they believed these tools should be accessible to everyone. There are no paywalls. No ads. No upsells. It just works.

Why it is this week's hidden gem:

  • Completely free - no account required on the web version

  • Does things no other AI tool does quite as well

  • Beloved by its community with a 4.7 out of 5 star rating

  • Completely overlooked by the mainstream AI conversation

  • Useful for literally every human being

How to try it: 👉 Go to goblin.tools - no sign-in needed. Just pick a tool and start. Or download the low-cost app on iOS or Android.

In the next edition I give you a full deep-dive into every tool inside Goblin Tools. And later this week your Goblin Tools Cheat Sheet arrives with the best ways to use each feature.
